Apple Blossom Buds are associated with life, longevity, youth, love, healing, harmony, fidelity, marriage, beauty, vanity, wisdom, and fertility. Folklore associates the apple with the afterlife, the soul, immortality, fairies, creativity, generosity, and the otherworld. Apple blossoms are in love and healing incense.

Bay Laurel Leaves are used in incenses to enhance psychic ability and prophecy. The bay leaf is a symbol of victory, honor and glory. It is a protection and purification herb par excellence and is used to ward off negativity and evil, during exorcism rituals, and to prevent poltergeists from working any mischief in the house.

Blessed Thistle is most associated with use for purification, protection, and strengthening of the spirit. It symbolizes bravery and determination.

Chamomile Flower is associated with various Sun Gods, including Ra, Cernunnos, Lugh and others. To the Anglo Saxons, it was one of the nine herbs charm. It is used in spells for money, peace, love, tranquility, and purification. Chamomile is used magickally to reduce stress, boost luck, release old emotional baggage, and get much-needed rest during challenging times. It is also used to combat curses and spells, and to release feelings of pain, loss or anger.

Cinnamon is a sun-related ingredient thought to be useful in protection magic. Cinnamon is an excellent ingredient for increasing financial and personal prosperity, as these successes are also linked to the bright-hot power of the Sun. The powerful heat of cinnamon is strong in its ability to shine positive light into dark corners – whether of a physical dwelling or of the mind.  As such, this herb is perfect for banishing stagnant negativity and providing protection.

Cloves are used in magic to attract good luck and prosperity, to keep good friends close, and to help stop malicious gossip. Cloves are also burned to raise the spiritual vibrations of an area.

Frankincense Resin is very relaxing and is a suitable offering for any Sun God or Goddess. It is used in incenses of exorcism, protection, purification, fumigation and consecration. It is also burned to induce visions and to aid meditation. Frankincense added to any incense blend increases the action of the other woods, herbs, and resins in the blend. It is excellent for smudging. Some believe this is the most powerful and useful incense for burning away negative energy and raising the energy of a space.

Hawthorn Leaf & Flower is sacred in many Pagan religions. It is sacred to fairies and is used in blessing and ritual. It promotes happiness in the troubled, depressed, or sad.

Juniper Berries are used against anxiety. The Story the Juniper Tree, recorded by the Brothers Grimm, tells of a juniper tree that appears to act as a magical guide and guardian for the people of the household. The spicy warmth of Juniper berries purifies the aura, clarifies thought, and protects from negativity. It is also used in anti-theft spells.

Myrrh Resin aids meditation and contemplation, and enhances spirituality and spiritual awareness. The resin has been used throughout history as a ritual fumigant. It is burned for purification, exorcism, protection, and healing. Its smoke is used to consecrate, purify and bless objects. Myrrh is an excellent incense to help with loss, whether it be that of a loved one or a great injury (and thus loss of safety) done to one’s heart, spirit, or body. It brings protection to the injured. It increases the power of any incense to which it is added.

Pine Needle symbolizes steadfastness, perseverance and resilience. The pine tree represents rebirth and immortality and strength in adversity, overcoming hardships through optimism and inner strength. Burn pine needles to protect your hearth, clear negative energy, and lift the spirit. It is stimulating and encourages optimism.

Rosemary is used to ward off evil spirits and nightmares. Christian folklore says that rosemary will grow for 33 years, until it reaches the height Christ was when he died, and then it will grow no more. Apparently, Rosemary’s flowers picked up their blue color and acquired their fragrance when Mary spread her blue cloak over a rosemary bush to dry while they were on their way fleeing to Egypt. It is burned to fumigate an area and to drive negativity away from a space, object or person. It is also used for fidelity and remembrance as well as to dispel jealousy. Rosemary burned along with Juniper Berries is believed to purify the air from illnesses and helps aid with healing. It is a sacred herb for cleansing, blessing and purification. And it fosters empathy and goodwill, helping with dealing with difficult people. Burning rosemary in incense can help with meditating, dream work, and remembering past lives.
