BLACK TOURMALINE DESCRIPTION :
First discovered in Saxon, Germany, Black Tourmaline is a boron compounded with elements like aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. It is sometimes called “Ceylonese Magnet” because it can attract, then repel, hot ashes due to its pyroelectric properties. Black tourmaline is rich in iron and manganese, usually black to bluish-black to deep brown, and has high magnetic susceptibilities. Simply rubbing the crystal creates an electric charge.

CLEANSING AND CHARGING BLACK TOURMALINE :
Wash gently with lukewarm water and a drop of mild dish soap. Gently wipe or scrub with a soft cloth or soft-bristled brush. Rinse well to remove any leftover soap. Pat completely dry immediately with a soft cloth. Never use harsh chemicals, bleach, acid, or strong household cleaners. Avoid high heat, boiling water, steam cleaners, or ultrasonic jewelry cleaners. Do not submerge raw or fractured stones in water for extended periods. Avoid prolonged exposure to water or sunlight. Avoid contact with hard surfaces, and take care not to subject to hard bumps or sharp blows.
Be sure to energetically cleanse your Black Tourmaline when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a black candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour.
Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place on top of a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours.
Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly. Recharge as needed by placing in the sunlight or moonlight for a few hours, or by burying in the earth for a day or two.
