MOSS AGATE DESCRIPTION :

Agate is a variety of chalcedony, a member of the quartz family, which comes in many colors. Agates are primarily formed on or within pre-existing volcanic and metamorphic rocks. Their host rocks have been dated to have formed as early as the Archean Eon (between 4,540 – 2,500 million years ago), when the Earth was mostly a water world with a continental crust that was mostly under an ocean deeper than today’s oceans, and the atmosphere was rich in methane and lacked free oxygen. Agates have also been found in sedimentary rocks, normally in limestone or dolomite. It is found in a wide range of colors, including shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink, as well as Blue and white. Agate is a versatile gemstone often used in jewelry making, favored for its durability.

Moss agate is made of silicon dioxide (silica), forming a type of microcrystalline quartz known as chalcedony. Its famous moss-like patterns are not real plants, but inorganic branching mineral inclusions (primarily iron and manganese oxides, sometimes including chlorite or hornblende) trapped inside a clear or milky-white base.

CLEANSING AND CHARGING MOSS AGATE :

Use lukewarm water, a tiny drop of gentle soap, and a soft toothbrush to remove dirt or skin oils. Immediately pat the stone completely dry with a soft microfiber cloth. Never use harsh chemicals, bleach, chlorine, or chemical jewelry dips that can ruin the polish. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners. The high-frequency vibrations can fracture the stone or loosen delicate prongs. Do not use heat or steam to clean. Extended soaking in water or salt water can dull or etch the surface polish of certain inclusions. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Avoid contact with hard surfaces, and take care not to subject to hard bumps or sharp blows. Labradorite has inner layers, so can split and break if struck too hard.

Be sure to energetically cleanse your Aventurine Turtle when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a Green candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour.

Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place on top of a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours.

Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly. Recharge as needed by placing in the sunlight or moonlight for a few hours, or by burying in the earth for a day or two.
