Brown moonstone is sometimes called Hecatolite, after the Goddess Hekate. Unlike translucent or rainbow varieties that connect mostly to upper chakras, brown (or chocolate) moonstones resonate with the Root Chakra and Sacral Chakra. It anchors spiritual insight firmly into the physical body.

Brown moonstone is primarily used in witchcraft for grounding, comfort, emotional stability, and connecting with the Divine Feminine. BROWN MOONSTONE DESCRIPTION :

Brown moonstone is a natural feldspar gemstone featuring warm earthy tones ranging from beige and caramel to rich chocolate brown, often accompanied by a soft, floating shimmer across the surface. Colors vary from light tan and honey to deep bronze or smoky cocoa.

Brown moonstone gets its warm hue from microscopic trace impurities or inclusions within the alternating feldspar layers.

CLEANSING AND CHARGING BROWN MOONSTONE :

Use a mild mixture of warm water and dish soap. Because moonstone ranks at a 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, it is relatively fragile and requires gentle care to avoid scratches or fractures. Add a few drops of mild, unscented dish soap to a bowl of lukewarm water. Place your brown moonstone in the soapy water for 2 to 5 minutes to loosen any dirt or oils. Use a microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean the surface. Pay special attention to the areas around the metal setting if it is a piece of jewelry. Hold the stone under running, lukewarm water to wash away all soap residue. Pat the stone dry with a soft, clean towel. Let it air-dry completely before storing it. Keep your moonstone away from bleach, ammonia, acid, and harsh household chemicals. Never use these mechanical cleaning methods, as the heat and intense vibrations can cause the stone to crack. Do not use heat or steam to clean. Avoid exposing the stone to sudden hot or cold temperature changes. Avoid prolonged exposure to water or sunlight. Avoid contact with hard surfaces, and take care not to subject to hard bumps or sharp blows.

Store your brown moonstone wrapped in a soft cloth or inside a padded jewelry pouch. Keep it away from harder gemstones like diamonds, sapphires, and quartz to prevent accidental scratches.

Be sure to energetically cleanse your Moonstone when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. On a Monday night, use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a white, gray, black, silver or purple candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for projecting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour.

Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place on top of a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours.

Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly. Recharge as needed by placing in the sunlight or moonlight for a few hours, or by burying in the earth for a day or two.
