Sly like a fox, fierce like a wolf, and persistent, the Coyote is one of nature’s most cunning creatures and is a trickster. The Coyote is sneaky, stealthy, and smart. They are intelligent, sociable, and tenacious. As such, they symbolize cleverness, cunning, adaptability, and intelligence. In some Native American cultures, the Coyote is thought of as a clever and strategic trickster god.

Because of their haunting evening howl, they can also represent communication and expression.

Coyotes typically live in a pack and protect their territory as a pack, but tend to hunt by themselves. They are opportunists, both hunting and scavenging. This connects them with home protection, tenacity, stubbornness, vitality, resourcefulness, and thievery.

They maintain monogamous relationships that are fiercely bonded, only separating when one of the mates dies. As such, they are also connected to family, commitment, loyalty, and faithfulness.

Crossing paths with a coyote is sometimes seen as bad luck. However, it may be a sign that you need to try to be more resourceful, clever, and stubborn when facing a problem in your path.

The Coyote spirit animal is prone to laziness but resourceful. It struggles with hard work and gives up on things that don’t come easily, but uses its cleverness to find shortcuts wherever possible.
