January 2025 Parade of Planets
According to Star Walk, a planetary parade is “a celestial event where multiple planets in our solar system appear close together in the night sky, visible at the same time from Earth, making it look like they are lined up in a sort of ‘parade’ across the sky.”
The planets in the parade include Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, the Moon, Venus, Neptune and Saturn. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, it will begin after sunset on January 10th. Peak alignment will occur between January 21st and February 21st. Between January 25th and January 29th may be ideal for viewing because the shadowed new moon will present less light and make it easier to spot the planets. The best times for viewing will be between 8:30pm and 11:30pm. Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn should be visible to the naked eye. You may need a telescope to see Neptune and Uranus. Mercury will also briefly be visible for a couple of days at the end of February.
This extraordinary time of planetary alignment creates energetic gravitational pulls that resonate on Earth and is a period to embrace harmony, new beginnings, and transformation. Also use this time to align thoughts, actions, and goals.
